Beth Richardson graduated from Duke University with a Women's Studies Major, working thereafter for the Centers for Disease Control to publish a guide for health care professionals regarding folic acid's prevention of birth defects. Thereafter, she graduated from Washington University in St. Louis Law School with honors, serving as Editor in Chief of the Law Review. Beth later worked for federal judges at the district and appellate level and as an associate for Nelson, Mullins, Riley, & Scarborough, LLC practicing employment law, business litigation, and appellate advocacy. On a pro bono basis, Beth volunteered to prosecute cases involving victims of domestic violence and testified before the SC legislature against legislation aimed to restrict women's reproductive health and sexuality.

Currently, Beth is an attorney of counsel with Sowell, Gray, Stepp & Laffitte, LLC focusing on commercial litigation and business dispute resolution and appellate law. Beth is married to Matthew and they have three children, Jed, James, and Raye Beth.
